Porex presents Oleophobic Vents for Marine & Small Engines
November 08, 2011
POREX® Oleophobic Vents for Marine & Small Engines are designed, when combined with the functional design of the hydrocarbon absorbing system, to enable manufacturers of marine and small engines to comply with EPA standards for reduced hydrocarbon emissions. POREX Oleophobic Vents will not absorb fuel or allow the passage of fuel past the vent, but they will allow for optimal air-flow exchange between the fuel tank and the hydrocarbon absorbing system.
In addition to helping customers comply with strict EPA emission standards,
POREX® Oleophobic Vents offer advanced features and functionality, including:
- Pore size availability between 1 and 50 microns and thickness availability between 50µ and 3mm and design flexibility to optimize the air flow necessary during fueling, engine operation and air exchange between the fuel tank and the hydrocarbon absorbing system
- PTFE-based polymer with extremely low surface energy and oil repellency up to grade 8 on AATCC scale (Hydrocarbon Resistance Test) to ensure that the vent material will not absorb fuel or fuel additives with surface tensions greater than 19.8 dynes/cm
- PTFE-based polymer with water intrusion pressure up to 1.5 bar that will not allow water passage into the fuel tank or fuel to pass through the vent
