When used as a wicking device, the open-celled pore structure of Porex materials creates capillary channels for liquid transfer. The porous structure of Porex’s porous and microporous materials can be approximated for modeling purposes as a collection of capillary tubes. The radius of the capillary is often described by a nominal pore size rating in Porex’s porous plastic and porous fiber materials. Through proprietary, patented, and patent pending material technologies, Porex has the ability to alter the surface energy of the solid and liquid within a capillary system. These techniques combined with Porex’s vast array of base materials offer an extensive range of design solutions to complex venting of wicking applications.
