Fluidizing Sheet

A powder-coating system manufacturer improves the performance and cost of its fluidizing plate using Porex’s porous sheet technology. Today, Porex’s fluidizing plate is regarded as a premier component in numerous manufacturer’s fluidizing systems.

Design Challenge:
In a traditional powder coating system, powder is supposed to flow like water in the fluidizing container. This requires a uniform and evenly distributed air supply stream to the powder. A powder coating system manufacturer recognized an opportunity to improve the performance and cost of their existing fluidizing plate through the incorporation of Porex’s porous sheet technology.

Solution:
Porex engineers were asked to manufacture fluidizing sheets of various sizes. A few of these sizes exceed four feet by eight feet in size at a thickness of one-half of an inch. Given the sheets size and thickness, Porex was unable to utilize their existing continuous sheet manufacturing process. Therefore, Porex turned to their development and manufacturing engineers for a solution. Working together, this team of engineers developed a specialized molding process that consistently produced fluidizing sheets with evenly distributed pore sizes and airflow characteristics. Porex further ensured the production of superior fluidizing plates for the powder coating market with the development of special quality assurance test devices and procedures.

Result:
Porex’s fluidizing plate is regarded as a premier component in a number of manufacturer’s fluidizing systems. Through the disciplined and collective efforts of Porex’s product development and manufacturing engineers, an enhanced product was offered to the fluidizing market. Today, the plate’s use has also been expanded into a number of related industries and applications.
