Design Challenge:
A children’s coloring marker manufacturer requested Porex's assistance in developing a new idea for using the existing marker components and assembly equipment to expand the product line.

Solution:
Porex organized a brainstorming group of creative individuals and came up with the concept of using sample components to create a stamp that did not require the use of a messy stamp pad. Porex engineers designed and constructed this innovative part by combining a custom-blended polymer for wicking and strength, further enhancing the design by using Porex’s in-house CNC and EDM milling technology. The stamper design accommodated images small enough to be defined onto the head of the stamper nib, yet sturdy enough to withstand a child’s stamping action and large enough to transfer a clear image.

Result:
Porex’s stamper marker solution contributed to a 20 percent sales increase for the marker manufacturer in its first year on the market. For a period of five years, the stamper represented the fastest growing segment in the marker marketplace.
