Ethyl Vinyl Acetate (EVA) is copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate. It’s an extremely elastic material that can be sintered to form a porous material similar to rubber, yet with excellent toughness. It is three times as flexible as LDPE, showing tensile elongation of 750% with a peak melting temperature of 96C (205F).
As specified by Porex’s material supplier, the EVA grade represented complies with FDA Code of Federal Regulations, 21 CFR 177.1350 and may be used as articles or components of articles intended for use in contact with food, subject to the extraction limits on the finished food-contact articles as specified in 21 CFR 177.1350. This material also complies with 21 CFR 175.105 “Adhesives.”
