In some cases it is desirable to have the stiffness and creep resistance of PP without the brittleness. One way to achieve this is to use a copolymer of PP and PE. In the copolymers, there are actually ethylene and propylene monomers in the same polymer chain. The copolymers used by Porex have less than 20% ethylene content.
* As specified by Porex’s material suppliers, the PE/PP copolymer meets FDA requirements in the Code of Federal Regulation in 21 CFR 177.1520 for food contact, including cooking applications. Further, the material has passed USP Class VI testing. It has a UL yellow card flame rating of UL94HB. These apply to all colores at a minimum thickness of .039 inches (1mm). All ingredients meet the chemical registration requirements of TSCA (US) and DSL (Canada). |
