Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) is an elastomeric material based primarily on polyesters, polyethers, copolymers, and blends of polyurethane and polycarbonates. Porex’s TPU is polyether-based. This variety of TPU offers outstanding abrasion resistance, impact strength, toughness and flexibility. It also exhibits inherent resistance to salt water stress cracking, hydrolysis and the attack of fungi. Further the TPU offers good resistance to fuels and oils.
As specified by Porex’s material suppliers, the PP grades represented meet FDA requirements in the Code of Federal Regulation in 21 CFR 177.1520 for all food contact. However, any additives to these materials will require a reassessment of their FDA status. Also, all ingredients meet the chemical registration requirements of TSCA (US) and DSL (Canada).
