Tubular Membrane Filtration (TMF)

As the global leader in porous polymer technology, Porex developed unique industrial wastewater treatment filtration solutions for microfiltration and ultrafiltration. Tubular Membrane Filter (TMF™) modules are long-lasting, back-washable filters that meet the needs of solid/liquid separation of industrial wastewater treatment and recycling.  The TMF modules also act as a reliable pre-treatment stage in zero liquid discharge (ZLD) systems.

Porex TMF modules contain patented membrane tubes with a uniform, thermally bonded omni-directional substrate pore structure that provides an optimized support structure for tubular membranes and enhanced membrane durability.  This structure provides consistent and reliable solid/liquid separations and long service life. The structural composite membranes are composed of PVDF membranes bonded to PE substrate, which makes them much stronger and more durable than other similar tubular membrane filters in the market.

TMF modules are widely used in the following applications where each module acts as reliable pre-treatment of a membrane desalination unit, or as a guarantee before wastewater emission:

  • Enhanced chemical softening system for high hardness and/or high silica industry water including RO brine, CT blowdown, bio-treated landfill leachate, FGD wastewater of power plant and other kinds of combined wastewater
  • As a high performance solid/liquid separation unit after chemical reaction stage in heavy metal treatment & recycling system
  • Fluoride reduction for wastewater in semiconductor, solar cell or metals manufacturing industries
  • Fine particle removal for some processing wastewater, such as cutting and/or back grinding wastewater when processing semiconductor integrated circuit wafer
  • Many other solid/liquid separations for industry wastewater

POREX® carbon block pre-filters – also called seamless filters – offer advanced pre-filtration. Thick polyolefin walls allow for maximum flow and high efficiency, quickly removing sediment particulates from water. The seamless, unified design enables easy assembly while eliminating the risk of downstream contamination due to seam failure.

With fully customizable dimensions, fiber sizes, pore sizes and densities, our carbon block pre-filters:

Improve bed regeneration and extend system life of filtration systems

Developed to support sand and multimedia filtration beds in municipal, industrial, and residential water treatment processes, POREX® underdrain plates function like a “false floor” allowing for maximum, uniform water flow-through in either direction without loss of filtering media. This enables automatic backwashing of the filtration system for improved bed regeneration and long system life. Underdrain plates can be customized for cutting, welding and hole-drilling and are UV resistant.

Offering durability, efficiency, and easy installation to water filter treatment systems, our underdrain plates:

  • Retain filtering media – Underdrain plates act as a “false floor” to support media and allow for flow and backwash with uniform distribution of backflush.
  • Increase backwash efficiency through uniform distribution of backflush
  • Safe for drinking water applications – NSF-61 material is certified safe for drinking water applications.
