Protect the Clinician, the Patient and the Circuit
Blood management devices carry two risks at once: exposure of the clinician to bloodborne pathogens, and exposure of the patient to air, particles or contaminants in the circuit. Porex porous polymers address both. Self-sealing vents let air escape from a flash back chamber and shut off on blood contact. Hydrophobic membranes vent and debubble perfusion and administration circuits while holding a sterile barrier. Sintered media carry sorbents or functional binders where the device needs chemistry as well as flow control.
The same platform serves four application areas: blood collection and IV access, transfusion and administration, organ perfusion, and dialysis. Each draws on self-sealing media, Virtek® PTFE membranes and depth filtration tuned to the fluid and the clinical risk, produced in custom formats for automated assembly at high volume.
Key Features and Benefits
- Self-sealing protection: Vents for IV Catheters allow air to escape as blood fills the flash chamber, then seal on blood contact to protect clinicians from bloodborne pathogens
- Sorbent Customization: Porous materials can be customized to include sorbents or functional binders for specialized filtration applications
- Automated assembly at scale: Vents and filters for dialysis bags, cartridges and administration sets are engineered for single-step assembly.

Transfusion & Administration
Custom porous media for blood transfusion safety and pathogen-inactivation systems

Dialysis
Media-retention filters and vents for bicarbonate cartridges and dialysis bags, engineered for high-volume automated assembly.

Blood Collection & IV Access
Ventilation solutions for IV catheters and arterial syringes. Allow flashback chamber venting while protecting clinicians.

Organ Perfusion
Hydrophobic venting, debubbling and depth filtration for perfusion and preservation circuits that must remove air and hold a sterile barrier.
