Recorded on:
June 22, 2021
11am EST / 5pm CET

In the rapidly changing landscape of medical diagnosis and testing, the science of microfluidics used in many healthcare and life science applications brings along multiple benefits due to decreased sample input volume, reagent consumption and faster results. The technology enables shorter run times, higher throughput rates – and all at reduced costs. In this free webinar, developers of microfluidic test cartridges will gain a better understanding of how various porous polymer technologies can accentuate the advantages of microfluidic technologies and ultimately produce a more effective test.

Join Natalie Schlage, strategic marketing director for diagnostics at Porex, and Krista Ewing, sales enginner at Porex, to learn how porous polymers allow for the control of small amounts of fluids through micrometer-scale channels including sample inlet, fluid metering, reagent mixing, filtering (particulate capture and separation) as well as proper venting and waste management. Take a tour of how both fiber and sintered porous polymer materials are used today for precise control and manipulation of fluids that are geometrically constrained to a small scale.

When you attend this webinar, you will:

  • Understand the science behind porous polymers and their various functionalities in a microfluidic cartridge
  • Learn how fluid manipulation by capillary forces impacts the overall test performance
  • Take a tour of various materials currently used in microfluidic cartridges
  • Get a better understanding of why proper venting is critical in the functionality of these devices
  • Find out why material purity matters
